Thinking of buying a new TV?

There’s a lot to think about when buying a TV, so to help you out we’ve highlighted some key aspects of the thought process for you.

Firstly, you need to understand your own needs and requirements. Is it a TV for your main living area, or an additional set for your kitchen or bedroom? How much do you want to spend? What size are you looking for? Do you have a favourite or preferable brand?

– If you are looking for your main TV, what specifications do you want? You’re probably going to want it to be HD or 3D, or maybe even a Smart TV for internet connectivity and you probably want to be able to attach your entertainment system and games consoles. In this case, the most popular size options are either 32” or 42” – you could even go bigger! OR, are you looking for an additional TV, where none of the above may be necessary? Don’t pay for what you don’t need.

– Prices vary as per make, model, brand and size but that doesn’t mean a good TV is going to cost a bomb. You can find a 32-42” in the range of £300-500 inclusive of HD, widescreen and good sound quality. Alternatively, if you’re thinking of a smaller 22-27” TV you wouldn’t have to spend more than £200.

– The most popular sized TV’s are 32” and 42”. In order to match the size requirement, you need to consider what makes a good TV in the first place. Specifications such as picture quality, display, tuner, Smart TV features and sound quality all come into play. If you’re looking for a large screen experience, you want to go for a 42” or above.

– The major TV giants include LG, Samsung, Sony and Panasonic. But that’s not where the list ends- If you want to shop around, you can find alternate competitive brands (Technika, Bush and Alba provide some good examples). One of the best ways to decide on brand, is reviews- don’t always judge a big brand to delivery big quality, you may well find the same if not better quality from another brand provider, and the reviews will give you the best idea of what you can expect.
Now you’ve thought about the ins and outs, be sure to compare some of the major retailers and see what deals and discounts you can find.
